Abstract

Objective: To map educational interventions developed to promote the health of adults undergoing insulin therapy. Method: A scoping review was conducted according to JBI recommendations, using the databases Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cochrane Library, Online Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System, PubMed Central, Web of Science, EMBASE, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, and Scientific Electronic Library Online, as well as the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, the CAPES Theses and Dissertations Catalog, ProQuest, and Open Access Theses and Dissertations. A descriptive analysis of the studies was performed independently by two researchers. Results: The sample comprised 16 studies, most of which reported the implementation of interventions mediated by soft and soft-hard technologies, such as interviews, flip charts, games, videos, and educational programs. These interventions were developed for patients receiving follow-up care in primary health settings and during hospitalizations, aiming to provide information on skills related to insulin administration, dosage, knowledge, and attitudes toward self-care. Conclusion: The identified educational interventions proved to be effective teaching-learning tools, enabling the development of patient knowledge and skills in insulin therapy.
